Healthcare Information Website And Service Directory

Healthcare information sites are read by people who are worried, on a phone, often with a screen reader. That shapes everything, and it is worth saying plainly because it is easy to build the directory first and treat accessibility afterwards.

The provider directory was the main structure: search by specialism, location and availability, with each result showing what is actually known about the service rather than a marketing summary. Where information is incomplete or out of date, the entry says so. A directory that implies completeness when it is not is worse than an obviously partial one.

Appointment enquiry is a short journey ending in a confirmation that tells the patient what happens next, and it never promises a same-day response that the service cannot deliver.

Accessibility was built in rather than audited in: semantic headings in order, a skip link, every form field with a real label, visible focus on the results list, and a contrast check on the brand palette before build.

Testing was done with a screen reader through the whole path from landing to confirmation, and with the layout at 200% zoom.

Handover included how to update service information, including what to do when a provider stops offering a service, since that is the case that quietly goes stale.
